Plain stretching (bicubic interpolation) just spreads pixels out, adding no information — it gets blurrier and edges get jagged. Smart super-resolution rebuilds detail and edges from learned textures, so the result stays sharp. That's what "lossless enlargement" means.
They can improve noticeably. Super-resolution works best on smallish, soft images whose structure is still there; parts that are severely blurred with information already lost can't be invented, only reasonably "guessed" back.
The upscaling runs in your browser with key data processed locally and destroyed when you close the page; we never store or analyze your images. The result is exported without a watermark, so old photos and ID shots are safe to work with.
To keep browser memory stable, very large images are gently downscaled before upscaling — it works best on images up to ~1500px on the short side. Time depends on size, level and device, usually seconds to a minute, with live progress.
